Wildflower Cottage Coaching

If you would like to learn more about my coaching, I also have a recording of an informational meeting and discussion about my vision and offerings. If you are interested in viewing it, please contact me at [email protected], and I can send you a link (name your own price)!
Through my years of experience as a musical performer, recording artist, and instructor, I have gained insight into what opens up my own creative processes and helps me to function more effectively and peacefully. I have also learned what can present obstacles to living peacefully and productively as a creative and achieving work-life balance.

My own unconventional upbringing, education, and lifestyle as well as my studies in the humanities, social sciences, religion, and literature have encouraged me to look at the human condition through diverse and colorful lenses, leaving me with an abiding conviction of the preciousness of each human life. We each have unique and irreplaceable gifts to share with the world, and it is possible not only to know what they are but to foster their growth and flourishing.

In the process of providing individual instruction on mountain dulcimer, I have seen that often good playing is about more than just developing good playing techniques. There are other obstacles -- mental and/or emotional blocks or lifestyle habits -- that can impede the creative process and which need more in-depth processing than a single 45 minute music lesson could provide.

I would be honored to spend more time with you sharing insights on what could give you greater creative breakthrough, deeper peace, and a more authentic life and sense of self. We can also dreamscape what a more vibrant creative life looks like for you and begin to set concrete goals for making those dreams become realities! We can begin with a free 30-minute trial consultation and then proceed from there!

However, if we sense that some of these things may be present, we can discuss how to connect you with specialists who could help you.)

Inspiration & Insight

  • “The Lake Isle of Innisfree” by William Butler Yeats, a poem which speaks to the importance of having a “safe place” in one’s imagination to retreat to when life is overwhelming.
  • “I Shall Not Live in Vain” by Emily Dickinson, a poem which reflects on how one can find great meaning in life by opening one’s heart to healing others
  • Later Bloomers, a blog which celebrates individuals whose great accomplishments came in “the second half of life”
  • “Boundaries for Your Soul: How to Turn Your Overwhelming Thoughts and Feelings into Your Greatest Allies” by Alison Cook PhD & Kimberly Miller, MTh, LMFT, a book which provides a clear and grounded description of how to dialogue with different parts of yourself in the healing work of IFS (Internal Family Systems theory) Free companion resources from publisher: www.thomasnelson.com/p/boundariesforyoursoulaudiobook/

Prerequisites

Terms and Conditions

  • Our sessions will be conducted in the program Zoom; you might have Zoom downloaded to your computer already, or you can easily obtain the program from www.zoom.us or the Apple App Store.
  • Please log in prepared to begin at the scheduled time. It would be good to have a working knowledge of the Zoom application prior to beginning our lessons.
  • Also, please test out in advance the devices, setup, and camera angles you intend to use during lesson time with your  visual and audio. (NOTE: Laptop and desktop computers are recommended since they tend to have more consistent audio than tablets or phone, in my experience!)
  • We will meet for our sessions in my Zoom meeting room (a permanent, recurring meeting link, so you will use the same link every time).
  • I will ask you for your phone number as well in case of emergency or technical difficulties.
  • From time to time, you may receive Google Calendar invitations for your sessions. Please confirm these invitations to make sure that your lessons appear on your Google Calendar if you have one (you will still need to program in your own reminders).
After the first free 30-minute consultation, our sessions will last for about 50-55 minutes. Fees will be determined on a case-by-case basis to be submitted through PayPal: www.paypal.me/JessicaComeau.
  • Appointment times will be provided for the U.S. central time zone. Please make sure to translate this time into your own time zone (perhaps through a tool such as Google search).
  • If you need to cancel a scheduled session, please do so more than 24 hours in advance.
  • In the interest of respect for both teacher's and student's time and scheduling needs, if a student cancels a session within 24 hours of the appointment or has to interrupt a session for any reason, the student's deposit for the session will be retained/required if I am unable to find someone to substitute for that time.
  • I am overwhelmed by the kindness and good-spiritedness of our creative community as a whole; therefore, I am optimistic that our shared sessions will be positive experiences.
  • Sessions may continue to be scheduled at our mutual discretion (i.e. as long as we both feel that our experiences continue to be positive and productive, which they undoubtedly will!). All I ask is that you remain committed to pursuing your goals purposefully and striving for continual growth.
  • If a client cancels or is absent for three or more consecutive sessions (or more than three sessions within a semester), the client's spot may be reassigned. If you anticipate three or more consecutive absences or more than three absences total within a semester, please discuss them with me in advance, and we can discuss finding you an alternate spot or resuming sessions at a later date.
