NEW MOUNTAIN DULCIMER WORKSHOP
May is the month that traditionally celebrates the flowering of the year as well as the Blessed Virgin Mary. Therefore, the song selections in my next workshop highlight Marian melodies from a variety of musical traditions: a shape note- melody called “Pleading Savior” (also known as “Sing of Mary, Pure and Lowly”), one the 13th century Spanish Cantigas de Santa Maria (“Cantiga #384: A que por mui gran fremosura”), the medieval chant “Gaude Virgo Salutata,” and a traditional French melody that came to be known as “Ô Vierge Marie” (“Immaculate Mary” or “The Lourdes Hymn”). Arrangements will be suitable for players at the intermediate level. Registration will be $15 per participant. Please bring your capo along! I will send you a Zoom meeting link and a PayPal link once you RSVP by messaging me on Facebook or emailing me at comeaujd@gmail.com.
