Lark Rise to Candleford: English Ballads of Yesteryear
April 7, 2024
1-2:30 pm. CDT in Zoom
NEW MTN DULCIMER WORKSHOP (Sun, April 7): The stories of “Lark Rise to Candleford” by Flora Thompson (also adapted in the beloved BBC TV series) depict the beauties, joys, and hardships of both a small hamlet, Lark Rise, and a town, Candleford, in 19th century Oxfordshire. The timeless songs featured in this series reach into the depths of traditional English folk music. My next mountain dulcimer workshop will highlight several of these songs, including the Cecil Sharp ballad “The Keeper,” the broadside ballad “Sweet Polly Oliver,” and the Morris dance and game song “The Postman’s Knock.” Arrangements will be suitable for players at the intermediate level. Please bring a capo! Registration will be $15 per participant. I will send you a Zoom meeting link and a PayPal link (or Square invoice upon request) once you RSVP by messaging me on Facebook or emailing me at the address on my website: www.JessicaComeauDulcimer.com emailing me at comeaujd@gmail.com.
